Zoe has this incredible ability to keep you on your toes, perfectly balancing a tango of lust and danger. If you’re on the hunt for your next forced marriage, forced captivity, or enemies-to-lovers mafia romance, do NOT skip this one!

The pacing of this book is just right. It moves swiftly, keeping the plot progressing without feeling repetitive or boring. The storyline is super intriguing with lots of twists and ends with one heck of a cliffhanger! This has easily become one of my favorite mafia reads, and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series.
One of the standout aspects of this book is the character development and I love the element of unknowns and how well they all play into the series as you read on. Zoe creates her characters with such depth and complexity that you can’t help but get emotionally invested in their journeys, even if they are doing something they shouldn't be (IYKYK).

Bianca, the protagonist, is abducted into a life she never knew, but a life her blood knows all too well—and if the other Mafia families will be spilled. Her evolution from a reluctant participant in a forced marriage to a powerful, self-assured individual is both believable and compelling. The chemistry between the main characters is electric, and their interactions are filled with tension and passion that keep you eagerly turning the pages.

The world-building is another highlight. Zoe paints a vivid picture of the mafia world, complete with its own rules, dangers, and allure. The settings are well described and not overdone, making you feel like you’re right there in the midst of the action. Whether it’s in their compounds/mansions or a secret location to hide-out, each location adds to the overall atmosphere of the story.
The author’s writing style really took me by surprise. It’s safe to say this is a must-read if you’re into forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, morally grey (or charcoal) characters, and the “touch her and die” trope.
